- This is a seasonal attraction. Summer only. For best vantage point, view this attraction from an outdoor table at Starbucks on the
southwest corner of Palm Canyon/Tahquitz (kitty corner). Palm Springs
has summer temperatures that exceed 120 degrees-- during the winter
the Lucille Ball statue provides a photo-op for the tourists, who sit
and pose for pictures on the solid copper bench that solid copper Lucy
is welded to. In the summer Lucille Ball becomes molten hot, the unsuspecting
victims of red hot lucy clutching their scalded buttocks and legs, yowling
in a genuine moment of absolute terror. Within the space of 20 minutes
you will see at least 4 people get the hot-seat. It never fails.
